El chupacabra meaning the goat sucker in Spanish gets its name as it targets farm animals mainly goats and kills them by exsanguinations which means to drain the blood. The descriptions vary greatly. Some describe it as looking more like the little gray men that come down in UFO’s only with long spines down its back and fangs and between four to five feet tall.
Other Reports describe it more as being like a bald coyote with short front legs and long fangs. First sightings may have been as early as 1975 in Moca where killings were reported around the island; at first they suspected a satanic cult. But as more reports of animals with their bodies drained of blood they blamed a creature they called El Vampiro de moca but these killings are very similar to what we now call the El Chupacabra. In March 1995 in Puerto Rico where a farmer found eight of his sheep dead. Each sheep had three puncture wounds in the chest area and they were completely drained of blood. Even odder in all cases there are no traces of blood on the ground and some report say that the animals internal organs are also missing but there are no surgical cuts or marks of any kind bar the puncture wounds. A few months later there was another report in August when a Madelyne Tolentino also from Puerto Rico from a town called Can'ovanas where one hundred and fifty farm animals and pets were killed in the same manner.
Later in July 2004 in San Antonio a rancher killed a strange hairless creature which was attacking his live stock, The creature was initially dubbed the Elmendorf beast was tested at the university of California, Davis, The DNA reviled this was a coyote with sever demodectic or sarcoptic mange. There were a further two carcasses found in the same area.
In Coleman Texas Reggie Lago a Texas farmer caught a strange creature in a trap he set up after a large amount of his live stock had died. He described it as being a strange cross between a hairless dog, rat and kangaroo. He had given the creature to Texas parks and wildlife officials but it was thrown out in the trash before tests could be done to determine what the creature was.
The attacked did not stay in southern America, Mexico and Puerto Rico they strange sighting started appearing in Russia too. In March 2005 thirty two turkeys were killed by exsanguination over night then in a neighbouring village thirty sheep were killed in the same way. The reports made the news in April 2006 and the chupacabra was described experts became determined to track down the creature but it was never found.
The sightings continue up till present day. El chupacabra may vary in description but the loss of blood with no traces on the ground remains a common factor. So is it simply some mutation of the coyote or some strange alien creature left here by intergalactic travellers. We will never know for sure but whatever it is it seems to be breeding and spreading across the world from Mexico to Russia who knows where it will end up next.
