WHY BOTHWELL CASTLE FOR THE CEREMONY

As we were doing the rest of our wedding a bit different from the norm, we needed something a bit different for the ceremony
we were looking for something that was good for photos easy to get to and had something that would remind you of a woodland or enchanted forest.

Our first thoughts were to go for the Winter gardens in Glasgow, This did not turn out to be that good an experience.

they confirmed the details with us over the phone and agreed to what we had requested and yet when we went to pay this and commit to the booking they then change all the terms that they would be willing to meet.

and could not meet our requirements.

we found this to be a bit disappointing as they had already agreed to everything requested and were charging accordingly.

So we had to look for somewhere else.

We had been looking at various idea's from everyone we know and looking round the general registers website for licenced locations for weddings. In doing this we stumbled upon Bothwell Castle.

the idea of a ruin that didn’t even have a roof seemed kind of cool and interesting.

so we gave them a call and arranged a visit.

it was awesome, The general feel of the place just seemed to suite what we looking for.

as you will see from the pictures below there is a really natural feel to this place that just seems to cry out "GET MARRIED HERE" well for us anyway.

the place is very atmospheric and will no doubt offer the photographs and memories that were hoping for.

Why the Glynhill for the Meal and Reception

Our first thoughts for our wedding ceremony and reception were Arta in Glasgow.

It has a very gothic atmosphere and is almost entirely light by candles.

They have old art work and statues everywhere and a large fire place in the main bar.

This turned out to be a big disappointment when dealing with the management of Arta to try and organise anything.

We were initially happy after going for a tour of the place and discussing what we wanted.

After that we were ignored, we were promised confirmation e-mails and call backs that never happened despite several attempts at communicating on our part and the management didn't seem to care and were very cheeky when we voiced our concerns
So for anyone else thinking of planning an event here don't ,we would not recommend it.

So we had to look for somewhere else.

Somewhere we knew the staff would be reliable and competent.

We enquired at the Glynhill hotel which is somewhere we both have worked in before. The standards are very high and knew they were reliable.

The Glynhill hotel is a three star four crown hotel and is very luxurious and very comfortable inside and out.

When dealing with Harry (one of the managers at the Glynhill hotel) we have found them to be a breath of fresh air when it comes to recommending ideas and arranging our requests.

We also have found Harry to be very eager to help us and have been very prompt to respond to any questions that we had.

As this is somewhat of an unusual wedding it was hard to get venues to relate to what we were trying to do.

The Glynhill seemed keen to help us to achieve the memorable day that we are looking to create.

We are very happy in our choice to have our wedding meal and reception here and have every confidence in their ability to make our day run as smoothly as possible and make sure our guests have a good time.
